“Practical tax advice should create opportunities, not just identify problems.”

Expertise

Belinda Crowley is a corporate tax adviser who helps growing and established corporate groups manage increasingly complex tax requirements.

She works with businesses that require more specialised corporate tax advice and compliance support, often as their operations become more complex or they undergo significant change. This can include mergers and acquisitions, raising capital, corporate restructures, international expansion or bringing in new investors. She also supports organisations seeking specialist corporate tax expertise with a more accessible and practical approach.

Belinda advises across corporate tax compliance, tax effect accounting, ATO applications and reviews for corporate groups, employment taxes, withholding taxes, tax residency matters and international related-party transactions. By supporting clients with their ongoing compliance, she develops a detailed understanding of their structures, financial position and history, allowing her to identify issues and opportunities before they become obstacles.

Drawing on extensive experience in tax due diligence for fast-moving and large-scale mergers and acquisitions, Belinda helps clients identify issues early and understand how they may affect the structure and outcome of a deal. Her due diligence work has identified material issues that contributed to purchase-price adjustments and strengthened clients’ negotiating position.

Belinda combines specialist technical knowledge with practical advice. She questions previous tax treatments, looks beyond the immediate scope of an engagement and helps clients prioritise the actions most relevant to their risks, circumstances and available resources.

Background

Belinda completed a double degree in law and commerce and undertook honours in a technical area of tax law. Her career spans professional services and in-house tax roles, including time with Rio Tinto, where she developed valuable commercial insight from within a major corporate environment. She has advised private equity, listed entities and large private groups across a range of industries, including agribusiness, technology and mining.
