Two new grants have recently been announced as part of ongoing efforts to support the growth and resilience of Queensland small businesses. 

Business Basics Grants Program

The Business Basics grants program provides support to businesses to increase core skills and adopt best practice. Successful applicants are entitled to $7,500 (excluding GST). 

Who is eligible?

  • have less than 5 employees 
  • be operating and have an active ABN
  • have a registered Queensland headquarters location
  • have a minimum trading history of 1 year
  • a maximum turnover of $300,000 for the last financial year (2023/24)
  • not have been approved for funding under an earlier Business Basics round
  • not be insolvent or have owners/directors that are undischarged or currently bankrupt.

What can this grant be used for?

Applicants can apply for funding for activities such as professional business advice, strategic marketing services or website builds and upgrades.

Vincents’ advisors deliver professional business advice in eligible services for funding including business mentoring and guidance, strategic business planning, financial planning and budgeting, business structuring and operational efficiency.

When do applications close?

  • Registrations of Interest (ROI) open at 9am, 30 September 2024. 
  • ROI must be submitted by 5pm, 11 October 2024.
  • Full application to be completed upon successful ROI.

Lord Mayor’s Women in Business Grant

The Lord Mayor’s Women in Business Grant 2025 will provide funding to support women-owned businesses to grow and develop. Eligible businesses can apply for a grant of up to $5,000 (excluding GST) to build their business capability or gain professional services that will boost local economic impact. 

Who is eligible?

  • An active ABN and be registered in Queensland   
  • Headquarters/business outlets based in the Brisbane Local Government Area
  • Australian Resident/Citizen 
  • You must be a woman in business with a minimum of 50% ownership of the business
  • Applicant must be 18 year of age (proof of ID) at time of application 
  • Business needs to be operating/trading for the full financial year of 2023/24 and demonstrate more than one client 
  • Not be insolvent or have owners/directors that are an undischarged bankrupt 
  • Annual turnover between $75,000 and $500,000
  • Must have traded for the full financial year of 2023/24

What can this grant be used for?

The grant will support women to build their personal capability as a business owner, enabling their business to grow and build a sustainable, strong, local small business economy. Grants will support procurement of professional services, training and education and operationally critical business equipment.  

Vincents’ advisors deliver professional services and training in eligible services for funding including strategic workforce planning, executive coaching, leadership workshops and development programs, and financial services. 

When do applications close?

Applications close at 4pm on 14 October 2024.
