Expertise

Alister Yee is a registered liquidator specialising in corporate insolvency, restructuring and financial distress advisory. Having helped establish and grow an insolvency practice, he brings first-hand insight into the commercial demands of running a business and the challenges of navigating financial distress.

He advises business owners, directors and professional advisers at critical stages of financial distress, helping them assess risks early and understand the options available. His expertise spans voluntary administration, corporate liquidation, distressed business sales, deeds of company arrangement (DOCA), creditors’ trusts, receiverships, court-appointed insolvency matters and small business restructuring.

He has worked across small and medium-sized enterprises to complex corporate engagements involving ASX-listed entities, technology businesses, telehealth providers, retail groups and craft breweries. His work has involved varied business models and asset structures, from venture-backed businesses with significant intellectual property to diversified groups holding inventory, domain names and overseas shareholdings.

Alister’s approach is grounded in an independent assessment of business viability and the options available. Whether pursuing a restructure or an orderly wind-down, he brings commercial judgement to decisions where timing, competing interests and creditor outcomes are critical.

Background

Alister began his insolvency career while studying at university through the Chartered Accountants Achiever Program in a boutique insolvency practice. Over 10 and a half years, he progressed from work-experience student to senior manager, managing a team and a broad portfolio of corporate insolvency matters.

After joining Vincents in 2018 as a senior manager, he expanded his experience into personal insolvency and helped rebuild the Sydney practice. He was appointed as Associate Director in 2019 and Director in 2026 where his current focus is corporate insolvency, developing referral relationships and growing the Restructuring & Recovery team in Sydney.
